Alignments
Alignments are critical to all types of drives, whether they be driven by belts, chains, gears, or shafts.
Performing precision alignment of drive equipment helps eliminate catastrophic failures which can cause a loss of fire protection in some cases.
Mis-aligned equipment damage.
Incorrect alignment and the damage caused.
The picture to the left shows how mis-alignment can easily cause damage to the Engine, Pump and Drive rubber.
In this case, we attended site to find an engine had been replaced on an older system. However due to mis-alignment, the drive coupling had almost completely failed when the engine was running, which could have likely result in serious injury or complete loss of the equipment.
The solution.
To resolve the alignment issue in the above picture, we decided that the current baseplate could not achieve the alignment required and that a new one would be required.
We supplied the customer with a new baseplate to mount the engine and pump safely and a new drive coupling assembly.
This allowed us to achieve an alignment that is satisfactory to manufacturer tolerances.
